With over 64 miles of hiking, biking and equestrian trails in our park, it takes a lot of volunteers to maintain things. As often as possible we send out trail crews to maintain trails, clear fallen trees, repair bridges, and even build new trails. Why do we devote so much of our free time to doing this? Well, quite frankly, it’s fun. The trail maintainers are a committed and friendly group of volunteers that enjoy the outdoors and like doing something to benefit the park.
What special skills are needed to be a trail maintainer? Almost none. If you can hike a trail and carry a tool or two, you have what it takes. We even offer occasional training on how to use a chainsaw or build a trail. Many volunteers have even adopted a section of trail to maintain throughout the year.
Cloudland Canyon Friends group has regular scheduled trail work days on the second Saturday of each month starting at 8:30 am. Join us at the Visitor Center to participant in our effort to maintain our trails. We need your help and we have a good time!
If you think you might want to join us, just drop us a note. Let us know you’re interested in trail maintenance, and we will let you know how to get involved. Contact Us

Trail Problem Reporting
The Trail Problem Reporting process is the best way for you to communicate a problem with one of the trails. Just complete the form below and the trail crew will address the problem as soon as possible. Thanks for letting us know!
Adopt-A-Trail Program
The Adopt-A-Trail program is vital to maintaining the trails at Cloudland Canyon. Below is a list of the trails along with the current adopted parent. Each adopter has agreed to maintain and monitor the condition of their trail and to alert the trail crew of problems that need attention.
- ADOPT-A-TRAIL LIST
The latest trail list. - ADOPT-A-TRAIL CHECK-IN FORM
Help us keep tabs on the condition of our trail system by providing us with feedback. Whether you’re the adopted caretaker of the trail or someone that recently hiked a trail, just fill out the quick “Check-In” form. - ADOPT-A-TRAIL CHECK-IN SUMMARY
NEW! We ask you to “Check-In” and you have (some more than others). The above link summarizes the trail “Check-In” quantities and also highlights the volunteers who work to keep our trails clear. This info is useful to our trail crew leaders to help us monitor our Adopt-A-Trail program. As an “adopter”, if a trail status isn’t reported periodically, you should expect a phone call, email, or text to offer the assistance of the trail crew.
